Problem Solving and Negotiation Skills

Most difficult issues can be resolved using the 7 Steps of Problem Solving and Win-Win Negotiation, while Pre-Problem-Solving helps keep kids out of trouble.

Another look into one of the classes in Collaborative Success Inc.'s Strengthening Families Program. This course offers 10 classes that can be taken individually or as an entire course to help parents, children, co-parents and blended families. This particular class focuses on problem solving and negotiation skills to reduce family conflict.

1. What is the problem? What are the different views? What is contributing to the problem?

2. How would we like things to be?

3. Brainstorm possible solutions.

4. Evaluate the three best solutions.

5. Decide on the best solution. Consider the costs, consequences, and the interests of all family members.

6. Make an action plan and do it. Decide on who will do what, when, resources needed, and the date to start.

7. Evaluate the outcome. Did the plan work? If not, try another solution.

In closing, problem solving skills benefit spouses, co-parents, children and the entire family unit. Our team would love to work with you and provide the necessary tools to strengthen your family and build trust.
